The short answer, without the small print
Yes, insurance is included. Accident and activity insurance is part of the €18 per person for rafting from Side, and the operator does not run the day without it. It is not an add-on you buy at the base or a box you could forget to tick — it is a condition of boats going on the Köprüçay at all.
What this page does not give you is sums, insurer names or a list of exclusions. We hold no verified statement on any of that, and guessed numbers are the worst possible idea on the subject of insurance. The terms are confirmed with your booking, where they are binding, rather than in a blog post.
What else the price covers
Insurance is one line on a list that looks the same for every tour on this site. Included: round-trip hotel transfer in air-conditioned vehicles, the guided 12-kilometre run on the Köprüçay, a trained guide in every raft, the safety briefing and the practice session before the start, helmet, life jacket and paddle, and lunch by the river.
Not included: all drinks, paid for separately at the base; water shoes, which you can rent or buy there; a wetsuit, which is optional and hired there for an extra fee; professional photos and video; and personal spending. The full list sits in what is included and what costs extra.
What we deliberately do not write
You will not find a coverage limit here, or an insurer's name, or a list of exclusions, or a word about medical repatriation. Not because there is something to hide, but because we hold no verified statement on it — and what we do not hold, we do not write down, not even in a vaguer form that reads like knowledge.
In practice that means one thing: ask for the terms when you need them. Before booking, on WhatsApp; with the booking, they are confirmed to you. An answer that would only be our estimate is worth nothing on the day it is actually read.
Why your own travel insurance still matters
The tour's insurance belongs to the tour. Everything else about your holiday belongs to your own policy: a stomach bug the next day, a lost suitcase, a missed flight home, a doctor's visit that has nothing to do with the river. The two layers do not replace one another, and no activity cover was ever designed to be travel cover.
For most guests this is a two-minute job: open the policy, check the medical section, put the emergency number in your phone. Anyone travelling with no policy at all is better off settling it before booking an activity — the riverbank is the wrong place to start reading terms.
What to check in your own policy
If you are opening the documents anyway, these points are worth a minute. None of them are about our tour; they are about the part you control.
- Whether water sports and guided outdoor activities appear in your contract at all — some policies list them separately.
- Whether medical cover abroad is included, and which day of the trip it runs to.
- Whether children travelling with you have their own conditions.
- Which emergency number your insurer uses — saved in your phone, not in a case in the hotel room.
- Whether an activity has to be declared in advance; a few providers ask for that.
- Whether a card you already carry brings something you would otherwise pay for twice.
What protects you on the day more than any policy
Insurance matters after something has happened. What comes before it is what actually shapes the run: a trained guide in every raft, the briefing and practice session on calm water, helmet and life jacket to international standards, and the operator's decision to change the plan or the date if the Köprüçay is not safe to run on your day.
Rafting stays an activity on moving water and so it is not risk-free; how that residual risk divides up is set out in is rafting safe?. Insurance is the last link in that chain rather than the first, and it replaces none of the links ahead of it.
The same applies to the combination tours
Whether you book the plain rafting tour from Side at €18 per person or one of the combinations with zipline, quad or buggy from the Side rafting packages, activity insurance is part of the price in each case, and you pay on the tour day rather than online in advance.
If you want something more precise before you book, message us. We will get the answer from the operator instead of inventing one — that is the difference between an answer and a reassurance.
